Yesterday was 5 months....
... since we broke ground on our property.
My house has had 3 basement walls since January. In February, dirt was brought in and packed down. This is how it has looked since Feb 18th.
We've heard one excuse after another and frankly, our patience has run out. We are in the process of taking legal action to break the contract with our original builder. Sigh.
On Wednesday, we spoke with another contractor about completing the basement. He gave us a price we could live with at 9:15 am on Thursday morning, and by lunch his equipment was on our site. By Friday morning, not only was all the fill dirt dug out, but several loads of gravel had been delivered. (The fill dirt needed to be dug out several feet down per the inspector due to a failed compression/compaction test.)
Here was the site at 11:30 on Friday. The new contractor felt it was important to get the gravel in before the horrendous rains moved in on Saturday. Imagine that - he felt it was important!!! :o)
Anyway, I've made the long story a short one, so as not to complain too much. I am really hoping we can keep the ball rolling now - as the first builder has wasted so much of our time!!
On a side note - look at how different the trees in the background look. It is gorgeous up there right now!

Oh, Angela - first and foremost - YAHOO! on the new progress! How very exciting to be moving forward ... but alas, yet ANOTHER builder that screwed around with a family. Ugh. If only there was a way to end that F.O.R.E.V.E.R It has to be the most frustrating thing! My dad's an architect, so I have heard about it my whole life .... and thanksfully, he surrounded himself and his business with really good builders.
Here's to many more positive posts, and incredible speed at moving towards the finish line! :O)

How INCREDIBLY frustrated you must be! Progress is a good thing -- I'm glad you were able to get the satisfaction of finding someone who will treat you and your home with integrity. Phew!
